Social Event with the Islander to Pellworm

On Saturday, 11th of April 2015 a majority of the Bishop – Team joined the invitation to fly with Mr. Bishop to the North Sea island Pellworm to spend a nice day and explore the island.

With very good weather conditions, our flight took off on time at 8.00 o’clock in the morning with the Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander from the airfield Uetersen. The flight was very quiet and in spite of some fog one had a beautiful view of the countryside.

After a 45 minutes flight we landed on the small airfield on the island Pellworm. Bicycles were already waiting for us, with which we intended to explore the island. On this tour we were accompanied by a nice guide who gave us a lot of information about the island and the general life on this island. We ride our bicycles for four hours in total with beautiful weather comfortably across the island. We took a break at the western part of the island and looked at the old and very beautiful Church St. Salvator. From there we cycled to the port of the island and learned something about fishing. Afterwards we drove to a nearby fish restaurant and enjoyed the local food very much.

Impulsively, we decided to leave the island a little earlier than originally planned, because of a strong wind which came up at the afternoon. On the bike ride back to the airfield we were blown through properly. The return flight to Uetersen was anything but a “normal” flight due to the imminent violent storm. Despite of the challenging weather condition, our pilot landed carefully at the airfield in Uetersen at 16.00 o’clock. He has done an excellent job. At the end we all agreed that it was a great day with lot of new impressions.
